The Extracurricular Study Log
of
C. Adam Cross
Primary Texts
texts intended to be studied thoroughly
Advanced Calculus
This text covers basic concepts of advanced calculus including continuity, differentiation, the Riemann integral, infinite series, and sequences and series of functions as well as introducing vector calculus in the final chapters.
The Theory of Measures and Integration
This is a graduate level text on measures and integration that builds the Lebesgue measure and integral as well as more abstract examples. It is quite rigorous but also measured, detailed and lucid.
Secondary Texts
texts used for reference or comparison, or only select chapters/sections studied
Real Analysis
I use this text often as a reference.
Introductory Real Analysis
From this text I studied metric spaces and I continue to use it as a reference as a study other aspects of analysis.
Complex Analysis
I have only just begun reading this text.
Summer 2005 I have almost completed Kosmala's book at this point, reading sections from related secondary texts to supplement, and I recently began Vestrup's Theory of Measures and Integration. So far Vestrup has constructed the background for measures and I'm reading about extensions of measures. It will take some time to complete this book, but I hope at least to understand the Lebesgue integral by the end of the summer.
